October Breast Cancer Awareness month

This month is a very important month to bring awareness about checking on "The Girls". Every 2 minutes a woman is diagnosed with breast cancer. It is scary to receive that diagnosis. While I have been lucky so far in not receiving this news; my younger sister had a double mastectomy in her 20's and a cousin underwent treatment in her 50's and she is currently in remission. Breast cancer does not discriminate and sometimes, though rare, it will also affect men.

So what can we do? This month we can help fundraise and bring awareness about it. The Susan G Komen foundation encourages their Passionately Pink programs. You can ask work about having a wear pink day. Throw a pink party with friends and family! Or simply wear pink on October 18th which is National Mammography day. We have a wonderful mammogram location in Prosper, Solis Mammography, so don't forget to get that checked off the list if one is needed.

The Making Strides Against Breast Cancer is on October 19th at Klyde Warren Park in Dallas. The Race for the Cure is on October 26th, also in Dallas. Kendra Scott is not only donating 20% of the profits from their pink line but they also are having a buy one and gift one to a woman affected by cancer campaign. I am sure there are so many other ways to give or help out there. If you know of something close to Celina please let us know!
