Cinco De Mayo commemorates the Mexican victory over the French at the battle of Puebla in 1862.
This celebration is more popular in the United States than in Mexico. It is celebrated as a day to experience and explore the Mexican culture.
For the last 10 years El Puente de Celina, along with the City of Celina and various sponsors host the Cinco De Mayo Festival on the square in Celina. El Puente de Celina is dedicated to bridging the diverse cultures within our community through education, celebration and community development.
There will be multiple vendors, yummy food, shopping and games. There will also be a parade and a showcase of traditional Hispanic dances!
Best of all , proceeds from this event will go towards the scholarships that are awarded to Celina High School students by El Puente de Celina. For more info about them please go to http://elpuentedecelina.com/.
Come on out Saturday May 4th to the Downtown Square in Celina
and share in the celebration!!
The parade kicks off at 2pm and the Cinco de Mayo festivities will go until 10pm !!
